Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) in Hanover/Germany is a noninvasive surgical procedure that uses sound waves to stimulate healing in some physical disorders like delayed union non-union fractures, pseudarthrosis, heel spur, tennis ellbow, including plantar fasciitis and Peyronie's disease, induratio penis plastica. Extracorporeal means outside of the body and refers to the way the therapy is applied. Because there is no incision, ESWT offers two main advantages over traditional surgical methods: fewer potential complications and a faster return to normal activity. ESWT has been used extensively for several years to treat plantar fasciitis and other disorders. Extracorporeal Shockwaves (ESWT) Hanover devices generate pulses of high-pressure sound that travel through the skin. For reasons that are not fully understood, soft tissue and bone that are subjected to these pulses of high-pressure energy heal back stronger. The FDA has approved the use of some extracorporeal shockwaves machines for heel pain and tennis elbow, pseudarthrosis, delayed union, non-union, fractures.The discovery of the beneficial effects of ESWT came as German researchers were trying to determine what type of high-pressure pulses could be sent through the body to disintegrate kidney stones without causing harm to surrounding tissue.
